Highlander Highlights: Issue 4

Coming Up:

The class of 2016 need baked goods for our bake sale on November 4th at the Senior Center for election day!

Tomorrow is Halloween! Students and staff may dress up. Costumes must be school appropriate. No masks or complete face paint will be allowed.

Seniors - bring in your ads and baby pictures for the yearbook!

The class of 2016 needs baked goods for our bake sale on November 4th at the senior center for Election Day!

November 7th - the Class of 2016 is also hosting a 31st bag sale in the cafe.

Ultimate Frisbee on November 13th on $30.00 per team. Get that into Anthony Archuleta or Mrs. Larson ASAP!

Class of 2017 is hosting a fundraiser at Cherry Berry in Middletown from 4 - 9 P.M. on Tuesday, November 4th. 20% of the profit goes to Class of 2017.

The Class of 2018 is sponsoring a night out a Chile's in Cromwell, CT. The date in Monday, November 10th from 4 - 11 P..M. 10% of the proceeds go to the Class of 2018. We don't have school the next day so take your friends and family out to eat at Chile's.

Coming Up...

Students may dress up on Halloween which is on October 21st (which is a Friday). The costumes must be school appropriate. No masts or complete face pain either.

A message for the Seniors: please bring you ads and baby pictures for yearbook (Ms Karch's room 221)

A message for the Juniors: class dues are due by January 15th and are $34. Please give money (checks written out to "Portland High School") to Courtney Cote, Mrs. Larson, or Ms Clark.

On November 13th there will be a Frisbee Tournament in the gym after school. You can sign up in Mrs. Larson's room, it costs $30 per team. See you there!

The Monsserat College of Art will be visiting us October 23rd at 9:15 (C period) in room 107.

The Western New England University will be visiting us October 27th at 10:00am and The Quinnpiac University will visit us the same day but at 12:00pm. You must sign up on Naviance and stop by the counseling center for a pass if you're interested.

Coming Up...
The Portland Fair!!!! Which is October 10-12!!!! (Be there or be square)
The Clothing Drive is still on, so bring in your gently used clothes (preferably winter clothes)
This coming up Thursday (October 16th) the school is hosting the band and chorus Shorlines Extravaganza. It starts at 7:00pm and is $4.

Last Week 

Last week, our school participated in Spirit Week. We had Beach Day and Music Appreciation Day just to name a few. On Friday, we had the pep rally for girls/boys soccer and girls/boys cross country. The classes engaged in a few "challenges" such as the Scooter Race, Cheese Ball Toss, and Tug-of-War. Here are some pictures of the pep rally taken by Mrs. Radziewicz.

Coming Up...

There is a ongoing clothing drive at our school. You can find donation bins right next to the High School office and across the Middle School Office. Furthermore,  there two sign ups for future events for key club. First being to volunteer at the Portland Fair which is on Saturday October 11th, 10 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm. Second, the Halloween Hayride, needs help on Saturday October 12th from 3 to 8 pm.
